Zach is a single-appearance character in The Amazing World of Gumball. He is the alter ego of Gumball, and he made his first and only appearance in "The Name" as the main antagonist.
Upon discovering that his real name is Zach, Gumball begins to act and dress differently and wishes to be called Zach.
It is discovered that this alter ego is taking over Gumball by altering his memories, up to the point where Gumball does not remember what his nickname is or what he has done as "Zach." The Wattersons decide to make "Gumball" his legal name before Zach takes over completely. Gumball soon defeats Zach, and he disintegrates.
Appearance
Zach is almost identical to Gumball, aside from occasionally wearing purple sunglasses and popping out his collar. He speaks in a deeper voice than Gumball, while usually raising his eyebrow at every appropriate moment.
Personality
Zach is boastful, confident, arrogant, and generally full of himself, as seen in a stereotypical rude jock.
Unlike Gumball, who recognizes his own failures and lives with them, Zach refuses to acknowledge any of his shortcomings or losses, going so far as to alter the memories of his/Gumball's failures to turn them into victories. He also views Gumball as a loser.
He typically rides a purple skateboard around everywhere and refers to himself in the third person while mentioning fake "cool" memories he has done with them at his school.
Abilities
Zach is a memory manipulator. Each time Zach claims a victory in one of Gumball's memories, Gumball slowly fades away. He uses all kinds of weapons, like a bazooka while attempting to blast Tobias, and a tennis racket to attack Carlton and Troy with multiple tennis balls.

- "The Name": His only major role. He gradually takes over Gumball, and thus must be defeated.
Trivia
- The spelling of Zach's name is inconsistent. In "The Name," he claims it is spelled "Zac," and thus fits perfectly into the three-letter limit of the high score screen in Doppelgänger. His name was spelled as "Zack" by Ben Bocquelet when talking about him on Twitter, and later appeared as "Zach" when Gumball signed for Gary's package delivery in "The Neighbor".
- Ben Bocquelet chose the name Zach as an "alpha type name", inspired by Zack Morris from Saved by the Bell.[1]
