Character Information
|
The van shopkeeper is a minor character in The Amazing World of Gumball. He was first mentioned in "The Puppy," although his first physical appearance is in "The Origins." He is the owner of the Awesome Store, a van that sells mysterious items.
Appearance
He appears to be some type of shadowy humanoid, as he can be seen reaching out his hand on multiple occasions. However, only his eyes and hand have been seen throughout the franchise. His eyes are slanted and seem to glow in the dark.
Personality
Despite readily selling dangerous items to strangers, he does so with a seemingly indifferent and amoral attitude. Although he sometimes issues warnings about the hazards of his merchandise, these warnings are often insufficient due to his carelessness and lack of foresight. For instance, he neglected to tell the Wattersons about the powers of their new fridge in "The Possession," and he handed Rob the Universal Remote without first understanding Rob's intentions.
Despite this flaws, he is not overtly ill-intentioned and even attempts to prevent Rob from using the remote for revenge, asserting that it can't be used for evil. He maintains a polite manner with customers and occasionally adopts a theatrical tone when discussing his store, yet his demeanor is also often deadpan and sarcastic.
