When Anais goes to Darwin and Gumball for help in learning about sports to prove she can beat the new exchange student, things get out of hand when the whole school gets involved in a fake sport that her brothers totally -no, really- know how to play.

Anais is having a hard time dealing with a new exchange student, and decides to challenge him in a sport... only, she doesn’t know how to play any sports. Deciding that Gumball and Darwin will be the help she needs, she asks her brothers to show her how it’s done. Gumball and Darwin don’t want to let her down, but also have no idea what they are doing, and so they decide to invent their own sport to show off how cool they are. This works until the whole school gets drawn into an intergalactic showdown with their made-up sport as the battle field.

Gumball and Darwin sit at school, waiting for Anais to return from her field trip to the museum. To keep themselves occupied they play a game with a small ball, taking turns to try and peform the most impressive trickshot. After Darwin lands a shot on the school's sign, Miss Simian leans out of an upstairs window and yells at the two for defacing school property. They duck for cover behind the sign, and wait until she retreats inside again, Once she does Gumball let's out a sigh of relief, Darwin notices the school bus pulling up and the two head over to meet Anais.

Once the bus stops Anais storms out, claiming the trip was awful. Her brother's are confused, as normally she loves school field trips. She explains to them that it all went wrong when her teacher revealed that the class were to work together on a group assignment, and that she would be working with the new alien exchange student Ee Tee, who had come from Elmore Junior High's sister school Spacemore Academy. To her frustration, Ee Tee paid no attention to the tour or assignment, plus the assignment itself was extremely easy, meaning Anais was left bored and annoyed the entire trip. Gumball laments that she should have picked someone to be her partner, rather than waiting for someone to pick her and thus ending up with the exchange student. She agrees that she needs to try and work with her classmates more, but is unsure how to become more popular. That is, until she watches Gumball continuing his and Darwin's game and landing a trickshot on a fire hydrant, which causes her to come to a realisation. Sports.

Excited at the idea, she asks her brothers to teach her how to play sports. The two are momentarily stunned, before asking if she's ill or being possessed by an alien. She explains that she's perfectly fine, she simply realised that the team tryouts for the school sports day scrimmage are coming up, and if she were accepted into one of the teams she would be able to beocme friends with them. The two are unsure, so Anais pleads to them with large, cute eyes. Gumball and Darwin are unable to resist her cuteness, and thus agree to teach her. The three arrive home, Anais eager to start learning. As she goes inside to get a snack and notepad, however, Gumball and Darwin freak out. They know nothing about sports and have no idea how they're going to teach her about playing them. Not wanting to disappoint their sister or waste the opportunity of her believing them to be more knowledgeable than her at something, they agree to keep this a secret from her. Once she comes back out, Gumball informs her that they need time to prepare and will start teaching her tomorrow. Though disappointed, she agrees to wait. For the rest of the evening Gumball and Darwin brainstorm ideas and watch sports-related videos to try and work out what to teach Anais, and how.

The next day the three siblings go to the park to begin Anais' lessons. Having decided to teach her multiple sports, the boys have Anais try out various trickshots with a variety of different balls, none of which she is particularly good at. As they all take a break Tobias arrives and, after Darwin explains how good he is at basketball, demonstrates to Anais how to score a basket by expertly dribbling a basketball and shooting it into the nearby basketball hoop. Anais decides against trying it out herself, however, believing herself to be too short to score any baskets. Gumball and Darwin lead her through the playground trying to find something else for her to try, and stumble upon Penny, Carrie, Molly and Teri playing hopskotch. Gumball greets his girlfriend, and asks her to show Anais some cheerleading moves. Darwin questions whether cheerleading is a sport, which angers her. Determined to prove him wrong, she and the other girls enter formation, expertly working together to create a pyramid shape. Anais decides to try it herself, excitedly running to join the pyrmaid, though ends up tripping face first before she can even try to jump onto it.

Deciding to try her on a more relaxed sport to start out with, Darwin takes her and Gumball over to the shuffelboard court, where Marvin shows off some shuffleboard trickshots. Impressed, Anais tries it out herself, and ends up accidentally hitting a tree and scaring away a nesting bird. Frustrated, she decides to give up for the day, Gumball and Darwin encourage her to keep going, insisting she just needs more practice, and the former suggests she instead take a break to clear her mind whilst the two of them practice the trick themselves. She reluctantly agrees, and sits next to Ee Tee on the nearby bench. As the two watch her brothers practice, Ee Tee mocks their lack of skill, and notes how obvious it is that they have no idea what they're doing. Anais initially refuses to believe him, only for her doubt to grow as she sees them constantly messing up.. The final straw is when she overhears some people noting how incorrectly the two are playing the game. Finally, as she remembers the entire days events, the truth hits her like a brick.

Ee Tee is right, they don't know anything about sports either.

Enraged at the two for wasting her time, she storms over and furiously declares that she quits, thowing a ball at the nearby trash can. It bounces off the side of it and crashes into a statue off the town's founder that Miss Simian and Principal Brown were admiring, knocking it over. Leaving her brother's hiding behind the bush in fear of being discovered, she storms off. The two manage to escape, though not before hearing Miss Simian's furious delcaration that whoever is to blame for the damage will be punished harshly. Anais arrives home upset, laying on the carpet as she explains to her parents that unfortunately they will have to live with her being terrible at sports. Wanting to cheer her up, Nicole and Richard offer to show her the two sports that they are both skilled at. Gumball and Darwin overhear, and decide to join in too.

As Nicole and RIchard set up their respective sports outside, the boys are confused as they begin to recieve texts insulting their sports skills. Penny then texts Gumball, warning him that Miss Simian is still furious. They don't have time to dwell on this, however, as Richard begins to get nosy. They quickly put the phone away, and explain that it was just Penny wishing Anais luck. Finally ready, Nicole gives a brief demonstration of her sport, Ping Pong, and offers to play a game with Anais. The latter agrees, only to come to the quick realisation that the table is much too high for her. Richard then demonstrates his sport, Bowling, to her by getting two strikes. He then gives her a chance to try, but the bowling ball is too heavy for her to carry. Despite her parents encouragement to continue trying, she decides to give up and do some algebra homework instead. Meanwhile, Gumball and Darwin excitedly ask their parents to show off their Ping Pong and Bowling skills again, as they believe they would be useful for their ball game.

The next day at school, Gumball and Darwin continue to be mocked for their terrible sports skills the day before whilst Anais, still mad at them, refuses to talk to them. The two sit next to her and she gets a drink from the fountain, deciding to talk to her anyway. They wonder how people know about their terrible sports skills and Leslie, overhearing, explains that someone recorded them failing and uploaded it to Elmore Plus. Miss Simian, having seen the video, calls the two into Principal Brown's office. Once inside Brown explains that the video of the two destroying the statue has gone viral. so much so that Spacemore Academy has seen it. Due to them being the reigning champions of the annual Sister School Scrimmage, they have the power to pick the sport that will be played at this year's event, They have chosen the boys made up trickshot ball sport, Coolball, and as the two are the only ones who know how to play it is now up to them to train a team to beat Spacemore at the event. Miss Simian then adds that if they refuse to cooperate, they will be sent to summer school. With no other choice, they agree. Anais then walks in, having been eavesdropping on them, and suggests she be appointed as a manager for the team, in order to help the two out. to which Miss Simian agrees. The three siblings leaving the office, Gumball and Darwin gratefully thanking their sister for offering to help them, as they otherwise have no idea what they are doing. Anais explains that as the two of them created the sport, they just need to make up a set list of rules and train a team in them. The two doubt that anyone would want to join a team with them after their poor peformance the day before, but to their surprise Penny, Teri, Tobias, Molly, Alan and many others all offer to do so. With a willing team, the three eagerly get to work.

Whilst Gumball and Darwin create a list of rules and hold try outs for the team, Anais attempts to come up with as many strategical plays as she can. Finally, the day of the Sister Sports Scrimmage arrives. Gumball is nervous, but Darwin and Anais reassure him that he has nothing to worry about, as they have a fully trained team and a bunch of pre-planned stratagies ready to go. Finally, the Spacmeore Academy team arrives and greets Elmore's team. After Principal Brown's opening speech, a coin is flipped and Elmore gets to play first. Anais prepares to explain the plays they should attempt, only for Darwin to interrupt and explain that he and Gumball are just going to make it up on the spot instead. Anais, explains how terrible an idea that is, but the two ignore her. As the first round begins, Gumball and Darwin repeatedly block their teammates from making any plays, attempting to do everything on their own. This frustates the team, and causes their play to go horribly wrong, Luckily, the rules declare that due to how badly it went a "do over clause" is in effect, alliowing them to have another go. The team complain to Gumball and Darwin about their behavior, only to yet again get ignored.

As the do-over begins, Gumball and Darwin let Leslie make the first move, only to both loudly and distractingly suggest different play ideas to him. Overwhelmed and annoyed, he forcefully throws the ball behind him. The team argue over who should catch the ball and end up crashing into each other, once again ruining their play. Left with only four points for the first round, it is now Spacemore Academy's turn. Their team picks the flying disc as their projectile and, to the awe of everyone watching, expertely work together to peform a play that lands the team with forty four points. Half time is called, and both teams go to get refreshments. Anais is frustrated, as the flying disc was one of her plans and rule forty five states that each object can only be used once per game, meaning Elmore's team must resort to a new plan. The rest of the team complains that this is all Gumball and Darwin's fault, to which the two shamefully agree. They apologise, admitting that each of their teammates have incredible talents and skills that they should have taken into account, before stating that if they wish to quit plaiyng, they'd understand. Penny is shocked, as if they lose the game the two of them will be forced to go to summer school, but Gumball and Darwin believe that after their previous actions, they deserve such a punishment. Anais, however, refuses to let them give up. Standing on a bench, she gives an inpsiring speech to raise the teams spirits. The rest of the team, not wanting to let Gumball and Darwin suffer the horrible fate of summer school, agree to continue playing the best they can. Finally coming together as a proper team, the group works together to discuss and learn Anais' new plan during Spacemore Academy's second round. The latter fumbles the ending of their turn, costing them a few points. Elmore now has a chance to win.

The team picks the smallest, most difficult ball in the game, which will give them more points at the risk of not getting any if they make a mistake. Beginning their play, Penny kicks the ball over to Leslie and Teri who proceed to volley it between each other with ping pong paddles. Carrie then uses a poem to make Idaho cry, which counts as an injury and allows the team to substitute in another player. Banana Joe catches the ball and bowls it down the slide to the team's substitute, Marvin, who uses his shuffleboard skills to manoever the ball down the field and up a ramp to Tobias. Tobias catches the ball and makes the final throw, attempting to land the ball in a basketball hoop. The balls rolls around the hoop's rim, before bouncing away from it. With the game in jeapardy, and no one else left to make a move, Anais is forced to enter the game herself. She runs over to Gumball and Darwin, who give her a boost up into the air. Catching the ball, she lands and gives it one final, almighty throw toward a replica of the statue of Elmore's founder, The ball soars into the statue with such a high force that it's head is knocked clean off, falling to the ground behind.

Flipping through the rulebook, the referee finds that Anais' final play alone was worth a hundred points, meaning that for the first time ever Elmore has beaten Spacemore Academy. The crowd errupts into cheers, the entire team surrounding and cheering Anais.

Later, Gumball, Darwin and Anais sit on a bench celebrating their win when Molly walks over. Altohugh sign-ups are closed, Molly was impressed with Anais' strategical skills, and so offers her a place in the school chess club. Anais, overjoyed, eagerly accepts. Suddenly, a letter falls from the sky and hits Gumball on the head. Opening it up, he and Darwin find a message from Spacemore Academy Athletics Department, informing them Coolball has been classified as a dangerous activity, and therefore is banned from play throughout the galaxy.

Though disappointed, they and Anais are happy to have had their final game best the best that was ever played.
