The Amazing World of Gumball: Midsummer Nightmare is the sixth graphic novel installment of The Amazing World of Gumball comics. It was released on January 22nd, 2019.[1]
Synopsis
When Gumball and Darwin unleash a curse upon Elmore Junior High and all the students get sick, it’s up to them to put on the school play alone!

All Darwin wants is a starring role in Elmore Junior High’s latest theatrical production...too bad he can’t stand the spotlight! Roping in Gumball to audition with him, Darwin accidentally helps unleash a curse on the school by speaking the name of the play that was so horrific, it gave a student a mortal case of stagefright. When students start falling victim to the sickness caused by the curse, Gumball and Darwin must do everything in their power to complete the show and cure their fellow classmates.

- This graphic novel was written by Pendleton Ward, famously known for creating Adventure Time and Bravest Warriors.
Cultural references
- The title is a reference to Shakespeare's play A Midsummer Night's Dream.
- The concept of saying the name of the play causing a curse is likely a reference to a similar belief surrounding Shakespeare's Macbeth. Whenever the play is performed, it is not uncommon for those involved in its production to refer to it as the Scottish play during production, due to a superstition claiming that saying its true name during production will cause a curse to be placed upon those involved with the play.
