The episode begins with Gumball, Darwin, and Anais sitting on the steps at the front of Elmore Junior High, waiting for Richard to pick them up. Suddenly, Richard arrives riding on a horse named Wunderklopp. He then throws the children onto Wunderklopp hurriedly and it brings them home.
Nicole soon discovers that Richard had tried to frame the kids for the horse. She then reveals that she had someone to buy Wunderklopp in advance, but the buyer cannot take the horse before the first of next month, so she asks the family what to do until then. Gumball suggests that they spend some of his money to go to college, which has everyone break out in laughter. Richard then decides that he has to call Don Luciano, a pizzeria manager who he has had a problem with in the past. Richard then denies Don’s offer for him to stay, much to his dismay. He hangs up, while Richard and Nicole cry. Darwin tries to break the sadness by suggesting to give hugs and kisses for money, but Darwin then realizes that this is a bad idea. Anais then suggests to make the house a "Bed And Breakfast", but Nicole declines the idea, saying they can barely afford their own breakfast. She then decides to rent the house as a bed, but stay and eat there.
Soon after, Ethel and Bernie introduce themselves at the door. After they take a picture of them and the Watersons, Ethel explains that she and Bernie are making a travel map of where they have been. She reveals that she and Bernie are the first tourist in over 20 years to arrive in Elmore, an event so notable that the town had built statues of them, with an engravement that stated that they were trying to get out of town. After noticing that the inside does not look exactly like in the ad that the Watterson post, Nicole reveales that the ad actually featured a close up of a framed photo in the living room. It is also revealed that everything the Wattersons put on the ad was exaggerated such as having cable TV (a telescope spying on the neighbour's television), air conditioning ( a fan with ice cubes taped over it) and a hot tub (a pot with warm water with Anais making the bubbles). Just as the Wattersons leave the house, Bernie tries to ask them if the house is soundproof but it is too late as the family left, and after seeing the horse the goats freeze and faint.
Later, it is shown that the Wattersons continue living in the house in secret. First, when Ethel looks in the refrigerator, she notices that both the meat and cheese do not have any insides and when Bernie asks what she needs from the store she replies with the insides of certain foods and a microwave, and it is shown that Richard took the inside of the food and the microwave to cook the food. Then, when Bernie is taking a shower, he notices that he can not wash out the shampoo, and it turns out that Richard is distracting him while he takes a shower. Later that evening when Ethel orders a pizza, Nicole uses her claws to cut a hole in the bottom to take the pizza, Later as Bernie tries eat a potato chip, Gumball and Darwin hit it so someone else can get the chip. Then Ethel is on the computer which surprises Bernie as Ethel said that voices in her mind had told her to do it, not knowing that it was actually Gumball and Darwin who were secretly telling her to go online. The next morning Bernie come out of the bathroom with Richard behind him as he sheds a tear. Later, as Ethel is cleaning up the table, she hears a sound but dismisses it, not knowing that it was Wunderklopp who is under the table. Later that night as the Wattersons begin to eat the food Bernie bought, Bernie comes downstairs without his glasses on, as he heads to the counter to get a glass of water. To make sure he does not know that it is them, the family makes different sounds to pretend to be something else, with Richard making a a description of what he is.
As Bernie and Ethel prepare to go to sleep, they notice that every time they turn off the light an extra pair of eyes appear, then, when Bernie pretends to turn off the light Richard and Nicole appear, causing the goats to freeze and faint. As the kids enter the parents room Nicole and Richard lie to them about the goats hibernating and the family come up with a foolproof plan; dress them up like they are still alive and help them with their dream trip and afterwards they can dispose of the bodies on a train so it can be someone else's problem.
After dressing them up, the Wattersons take Bernie and Ethel to tourist attractions over Elmore and take photos of them, such as a baseball game, a roller coaster, the mall, the park where the statues of the last tourists are, and Joyful Burger. However, the Dolphin Man appears in the latter and seems to have a issue with Bernie as he explains that the car he sold him was a lemon and demands his money back. When Bernie does not reply the Dolphin Man tries to punch him only to miss and take a direct punch to his own face, after which the family continue their scam. Then the family takes them back home where they pretend Bernie and Ethel are at the beach, swimming in the ocean and sky diving. Afterward Nicole gives the family five stars and writes a positive review on the ad. Later as the family begins to move Bernie and Ethel to the train to drop them off, Bernie and Ethel come to and question what they are doing. Gumball explains that the goats were hibernating but Bernie explains that when they are surprised, they faint. Then, Gumball shows them their map of everywhere they went on their holiday. At first, Bernie and Ethel seem to be suspicious, but they decide that they must have just forgotten the fun time they had and give Nicole the money.
Unfortunately, Ethel discovers something strange about the photo at Joyful Burger and Bernie figures out the plot. When Nicole asks how they figured it out, Bernie reveals that he and Ethel are actually brother and sister rather than an old married couple.
The next day, as the family discovers that they have no more food until next month, they come up with a horrible solution— eating the grass outside with Wunderklopp.

Waiting for Dad
[The Episode begins with the Watterson children sitting right outside of Elmore Junior High.]
Gumball: I’m just saying, why do people say grapefruit and tunafish but not eggchicken or beefmammal?
Darwin: [wailing] Come on Mr. Dad, when we said come pick us up after school we didn’t mean after graduation!
[Richard arrives on screen and dismounts his horse.]
Richard: GET ON THE HORSE!!
Gumball, Darwin and Anais: WHAT!?
Richard: [Jumps off horse] NO TIME TO EXPLAIN!!
[The children get on the horse and Richard slaps it’s behind, causing it to run.]
[The scene begins with the Wattersons looking out of their backgarden.]
Nicole: Let me guess: You saw it, had to have it and tried to let the kids take the fall for it.
Nicole: [face slaps] What is it called?
[The screen cuts to Wunderklopp, who snorts, then neighs.]
Nicole: [sighs and face slaps] It’s okay. I’ve found a buyer to take him off our hands.
Anais: Wait. How can you already have a buyer for a horse Dad just brought home?
Nicole: Oh, sweetie, do you really think I didn't expect your father to buy a horse at some point in our marriage? The problem is the guy can't buy it before the first of next month, so short of having Wunderklopp for breakfast, [Wunderklopp neighs] I'm open to suggestions on how we're gonna survive until then.
Gumball, Darwin, Anais, and Richard: Hmmmmm....
Gumball: I guess we're gonna have to tap into the money you saved for me to go to college.
[Anais, Darwin, Richard, and Nicole all laugh at Gumball, who is annoyed at this.] What?
Anais: [Wipes away a tear] I don't know what's the funniest: the fact you think you've got a trust fund or the fact you think you'll make it to college!
Gumball: Well, you guys come up with a solution, then.
Richard: [Inhales sharply as mafia-style music plays.] I said I would never go back to that life. That it was all behind me. Sadly, the time has come for me to call... Don Luciano. [He dials the phone. A hairy hand with many engraved rings picks it up on the other side. It suddenly is revealed that Don Luciano is the owner of a pizzeria]
Don Luciano: Don Luciano Pizza!
Nicole: Richard, no! One of their pizzas might have enough calories to keep us alive for two weeks, but they've already taken two years off your life!
Don Luciano: Ricardo, is that you?
Nicole: [tearing up] No!
Don Luciano: Come back to us, Ricardo. We are your real family.
Nicole: [whispering, with big tearful eyes] No!
[Split screen of Richard and Don Luciano]
Don Luciano: I'll get your number sent off. Just for you.
Richard: [tearing up] I'm sorry, Don Luciano! [Points the phone at Luciano's side of the split screen.]
Don Luciano: You know, the sad thing about betrayal...it never comes from an enemy.
[Richard presses a button and hangs up the phone, causing Don Luciano's side to turn to static. Richard and Nicole drop to the floor as they embrace each other and burst into tears. The mafia music swells louder.]
Darwin: Oh! I know! We can invite people who need hugs and kisses to come to our house, and we give it to them for money! [Beat] Oh! I know! We all forget I just said that!
Richard: Guys, don't panic. I spent the last of this much food money on a metal detector and some lottery tickets. Worst case scenario: we can eat those!
Anais: I've got an idea! We rent the house as a bed and breakfast!
Nicole: Anais, we can't afford our own breakfast, let along pay for other people!
Anais: Fine! Then we rent the house as a bed and continue to fast!
Nicole: Hmmmm... [A thought bubble with a dollar sign pops up by Nicole, then by Gumball and Darwin. Richard just thinks of a crab with a human face dancing. Everyone else stares at his thought bubble, weirded out.]
The New Guests
[The doorbell rings, and the door opens to reveal Ethel and Bernie Klein, the first guests]
Ethel and Bernie: Hello!
Nicole: Oh, please come in!
Ethel: I'm Ethel, and this is Bernie. [They take a selfie with a Polaroid. The Wattersons, looking confused, are in the background of their shot.] Sorry! Bernie and I are making a travel map of our holiday! [She puts the photo into a map.] It's been our lifelong dream, see?
Nicole: I think you're the first tourists in Elmore since those two guys back in '83! The town was so happy, they put up a statue of them in the park with their motto underneath. [The statue is shown; it is of the two tourists running scared.] "Tell us the quickest way out of this dump!" [Everyone laughs]
Ethel: Well, beats our dump. It's so small, we don't need phones. We just speak louder! [Everyone laughs except Bernie]
Bernie: I must say, the house looks a bit different than the photo on the ad! [Holds up the photo; it is of a rich, opulent room with marble floors]
Nicole: Oh, they're just closeups, is all! That one was taken right here in the living room! Look! [Zoom in on a framed picture of the room from the ad in the living room]
Bernie: Right... Yeah, it also said you had cable? Does it have subtitles? 'Cause our hearing is--
Richard: Yes! [Walks up to a telescope by the window] Let me talk you through how it works. In here, you receive cable TV from right across the street. [Telescope view of the Robinsons' TV] Until around 7 p.m. when they shut the blinds.
