The rats are minor characters in The Amazing World of Gumball. They made their first appearance in "The Kiss" in Darwin's "happy place."

Appearance

In "The Kiss," the rats are pink and green, and feature a scribbled texture. In "The Hero" onwards, they are brown with pink or brown tails. They all look the same, but are different shades of brown.

In "The Factory," black rats appear, which are much more realistic-looking in both body and face. Their tails are pink.

Season 1

• "The Kiss": Their debut. Two are part of Darwin's "happy place."

Season 2

• "The Hero": One is in Gumball and Darwin's food.
• "The Castle": A lot are the hobo's friends, and they attack Anais.
• "The Sweaters": Two have a rat fight in the cafeteria, much to Sarah's dismay.
• "The World": A few circle around an evil squirrel.

Season 3

• "The Gripes": Several of them are used by Darwin to trash the Wattersons' house.
• "The Pizza": A few are held by the tail by Richard and given to Larry.

Season 4

• "The Slap": Gumball and Tobias fling one.

Season 5

• "The Outside": Two are seen roasting a cockroach.
• "The Console": Three are beaten up by Gumball, Darwin, and Anais.
• "The Singing": One sings in Miss Simian's cup, and scares Teri. He and another one later sing in the sewer.
• "The Puppets": One jumps out of Frank's mouth.

Season 6

• "The Anybody": Some are grabbed by Clayton and Darwin in the sewer.
• "The Factory": Multiple black rats appear during the song "Red, Orange, Yellow."
