The oval family are minor characters in The Amazing World of Gumball. They make their first appearance in "Christmas."

Appearance

They are both ovals with winter hats and scarves on. The father oval is brown with an orange hat and a yellow scarf. His son is green and has a yellow hat.

• "Christmas": They are in line for a Santa meet and greet at Elmore Shopping.
• "The Internet": They are among the drivers involved in a massive car pile-up.

Season 3

• "The Extras": Their first major role. They sing "Just Notice Us" with the other background characters.
• "The Law": Both of them are almost run over by Felicity at the park.
• "The Shell": They watch the school play.
• "The Butterfly": The father drives his car when Mr. Robinson is holding up traffic. Later, they get caught in the domino effect caused by Karen.
• "The Oracle": They are among the people running in the mall to be the 1,000,000^th costumer. The father is later seen in the dad area.
• "The Spoiler": The father appears at the cinema.

Season 4

• The Romantic": The father is part of the flash mob organized by Gumball.
• "The Wicked": They run away from Mrs. Robinson.
• "The Origins: Part Two": They run away from Darwin.
• "The Signal": The father almost gets run over by Cartax.
• "The Misunderstandings": The father listens to Jeff talk at the Elmore Earth Auction.
• "The Blame": They attend the PTA meeting.
• "The Disaster": They are at the mall.

• "The Rerun": They are at the mall again.
• "The Boredom": The son watches Principal Brown get shaved by a lawnmower and the father later appears at the mall.
• "The Catfish": The oval dad appears at the mall.
• "The Stars": The father can be seen holding hands with the exercise bacon outside the cinema.
• "The Ex": The father is seen with the Exercise Bacon in the mall.
• "The Uncle": They appear on the plane.
• "The Line": They are both seen running to the first showing of Stellar Odyssey.
• "The List": They are seen in the audience watching the play.

Season 6

• "The One": The son walks through the mall.
• "The Parents": They walk past Nicole and her mother at the Kindergarten in a flashback. Strangely, both of them look the same as they do in the present.
• "The Ghouls": The father is stepped on by Rocky.
• "The Drama": The father is at the carnival.
• "The Revolt": The father is in Darwin's imagination.
• "The Decisions": The father is at the mall.

Trivia

• One of their prototype designs was reused for the teapot and Muriel, although there was also a child for her that was scrapped.
  • Another one was reused for some of the shape people.
