"Never Gonna Let You Go" is a song from "The Sale." It is sung by Gumball and Darwin as a goodbye present for Mr. Robinson.
Lyrics
Gumball: This song's our parting gift to you
Darwin: Like we've seen people in movies do
Gumball: They're not great movies, sure, that's true
But we'll see this through
Gumball: I guess it's time for you to leave
Both: But there's one thing you need to know
We'll never really let you go
Gumball: When you wake
Darwin: And when you sleep
Both: Near or far you must believe
We'll never really let you go
Ohh, ohh!
Gumball: Mountains high or rivers deep
Darwin: We'll be there, we're yours to keep
Gumball: We're yours for keep
Darwin: We're never gonna let you go
Gumball: Oh, oh,
Darwin: Oh, oh, oh-oh-oh!
Gumball: We won't forget your smile or smell
Darwin: Whoo, whoo-hoo-hoo
Gumball: We love them both, you know full well
Both: We're never going to let you go
Both: Never going to let you go
Ahh, ahh
Gumball: Never gonna let you go
Darwin: Never gonna let you go
Both: Ah, ah, ah, ah, ahh!
Trivia
- The song's instruments are very similar to the song "My Heart Will Go On" by Céline Dion, the theme song of the 1997 film Titanic. Some parts of the tune also bear a resemblance. For example, the lyrics "Near or far" resemble the lyrics "Near, far, wherever you are" in the aforementioned song.
- The melody of the song is also reminiscent of "The Greatest Love of All," made popular by Whitney Houston's version in 1985.
- A specific portion of this song: "When you wake, and when you sleep, near or far, you must believe," is done to a melody similar to parts of Gordon Lightfoot's "If You Could Read My Mind."
