Masami Yoshida is a supporting character in The Amazing World of Gumball. She is the spoiled-rich daughter of Mr. Yoshida and Yuki Yoshida, the former of whom is the owner of the Rainbow Factory.
Appearance
Masami is a small, white cloud with hollowed-out holes for her eyes and mouth. In addition, she has retractable arms. In "The Gift", she is shown to have long retractable legs, and that she wears long rainbow toe socks over them. When afflicted with a negative emotion (such as sadness or anger), she turns gray and stormy, as seen in "The Pressure", "The Party", "The Words", "The Storm" and "The Summoning".
Her human form in "The Inquisition" heavily resembles that of a Japanese schoolgirl. She wears a white collared shirt, a black tie, skirt and shoes and dark gray socks, in addition to having grey eyes, shoulder-length black hair and light pinkish-orange freckles.
Personality
Being the spoiled daughter of Mr. Yoshida, the owner of the Rainbow Factory, Masami is somewhat snobbish and pretentious. Presumably due to the great wealth and success of her family, she inherits a smug sense of superiority to her fellow students, frequently taking the chance to show off. An example of this was in "The Pressure," where she tries to impress her friends by pretending that Darwin is her boyfriend. She can become enraged and destructive if she does not get her way, and most of her friends assume that she will ask her father to fire the parents of anyone who disagrees with and/or annoys her. This is because a significant amount of the townspeople work at her father's rainbow factory, therefore such a request could hold much weight.
She also seems to be narcissistic, impliedly holding great pride in her appearance; in "The Pressure", she refuses to enter the school swimming pool to prevent her "hair" from getting wet. In the same episode, she acts jealous of the attention Molly receives for her treehouse, later directing Molly's attention to herself and showing off, bragging that she has a "boyfriend" and they do not. Masami does not seem to be able to take criticism well. When someone annoys or angers her, she sometimes turns gray and stormy, often resulting in her zapping the responsible person with lightning. When she gets sad, she turns gray and starts raining, in other words, sobbing. In "The Storm", she tricks Gumball into hooking her up with Alan, and after Gumball and his friends confront her, Masami transforms into a raging storm and rampages through the school, only for her to give up after being disgusted by Alan's sentimentality.
In later appearances, Masami grows to become more respectable, friendly and amiable, while still retaining her arrogance and smugness to a lesser degree. In "The Gift", she is dismissive of her friends' fawning over her, and confesses to Gumball and Darwin that all she greatly respects being treated like a more regular individual. "The Line" and "The Astrological" seemingly imply that Masami has reestablished a healthy friendship with Alan and Carmen. However, in "The Gourmet", Masami is depicted as much more jaded and ignorant, discarding her luxury macaroni and cheese without eating it and spending the rest of the episode using her smartphone. She also is more simplistic, opting for chicken nuggets rather than a gourmet meal at the end of the episode. In "The Summoning", Masami once again turns into a gigantic storm and causes chaos in the school as revenge for having a bad yearbook photo.
