The issue begins with Gumball lying in bed ill. After confirming this by checking his temperature, Nicole scolds him and Darwin for playing in the trash after she told them not to, and tells Gumball he'll have to stay in bed and rest for the day. As Nicole drags him out of the room Darwin realizes to his dismay and horror that he'll have to spend his Saturday alone. Dumping him on the sofa she offers to play a game with him, suggesting stickball, tiddlywinks and hula hoops. Having never heard of any of these he asks how old she is. insulted, she simply tells him to play a video game instead and walks away.
Heading into the kitchen Nicole asks Anais what she's doing, and she explains she's reading a book. Her mother suggests she goes and plays with Darwin. She refuses, only to be dumped onto the sofa and forced her to do so anyway. Left with no other choice Anais asks what Darwin is doing. Upset, he explains he's playing a video game on his own on a Saturday. He is unable to proceed past the character select however as the game he is playing requires two players. To his surprise, Anais offers to play with him and asks what she has to do. He explains the premise of the game and all of the controls to her, and she is concerned with how violent the game sounds. Ignoring this he starts the round and the two fight against each other. To Darwin's surprise Anais beats him with ease, only taking a single hit from him.
After Darwin compliment she at her skills, she explains the game is simple and suggests that she could learn how to actually beat someone up from it. Darwin, horrified, exclaims that violence is never the answer,. She asks if he knows any other way to beat a bully Shocked, Darwin asks if she's being bullied at school, and she reveals that that one of the nerds in the junior geniuses club is picking on her. Deciding to help her solve the situation, Darwin offers to come with her to confront her bully at the park, where he'll be playing chess. She agrees, and the two to leave. Gumball crawls down the stairs, attempting to come along with them, but Nicole stops him and tells the two of them to have fun.
At the park Anais' bully, Billy, beats Marvin at a game of chess before insulting him and taking his last social security check of the year. Darwin is unimpressed, and asks Anais how exactly Billy bullies her. She explains that he says mean, horrible things to her, such as him being smarter than her. Darwin asks her if said statement is true, but she refuses to answer, looking away sheepishly.. Brushing this off Darwin drags his sister along with him to go and confront Billy and attempt to resolve his and Anais' conflict.
He immediately realizes how annoying Billy is as he insults both him and Anais. trying to keep his cool, he offers to play a game of chess with him. Billy is reluctant, believing that playing against him will be a waste of time, but agrees to do so anyway. Anais watches with concern as the game begins, unsure if her brother even knows how to play the game. He does not, and thus Billy ends up playing the game for both of them, leading to him eventually checkmating himself and giving Darwin the win, much to everyone else's delight.
Darwin asks if Billy has learned his lesson about underestimating people and assuming he's smarter than them, but the latter points out that he played the game for Darwin and thus beat himself. Darwin pauses, before angrily flipping over the table in a fit of rage and running away with Anais. As they hide behind a hedge, Darwin realizes he only made the conflict worse, to which he apologizes. Anais assures him it's fine, and reveals she stole Billy's lunchbox. Offering him a sandwich from it, the two happily sit together as they eat Billy's lunch.
Picture Day[]
At 5am Gumball's alarm sounds. He wakes up and frantically turns it off, not wanting to wake up his brother. Climbing out of bed he excitedly runs to the calendar, thrilled that it is finally picture day. He is determined to finally rid himself of his bad luck, and get a good picture. Darwin is woken up anyway by Gumball talking to himself, and asks what he's doing. He is surprised to learn that the feline still cares so much about his school picture.
Later on outside the school Gumball, now wearing a tan suit and sporting a large exaggerated quiff, observes the school to make sure nothing ruins his opportunity. Darwin points out that they've been outside for an hour and that they're going to be late for class, so the two go inside.
Gumball goes through his day paranoid, carefully drinking water and avoiding Rocky carelessly throwing food onto Darwin's plate, before finally it is finally time for him to get his photo. As Penny wishes him luck, Gumball goes to sit down in the photo area, only to slip on a banana peel. He crashes into Rocky's ladder, which has buckets of paint on top, causing it to start wobbling. With no time to spare Gumball runs and dives toward the photo area, demanding Mr Small take the photo immediately. The ladder falls, unleashing a wave of paint which covers Gumball and Mr Small just as the latter takes the photo.
Later that month the boys photos finally arrive in the mail and everyone, especially Gumball, is thrilled at his photo,, which is shown to have turned out as a parody of Gumball as the Mona Lisa.

Trivia[]
- This is the first and only time Tyson Hesse has both written and illustrated for an issue of the comic series.
- This is the first and so far only story in either the actual series or comics to feature Darwin and Anais as main characters without Gumball
- The short bonus comic 'Picture Day' is the first and so far only direct sequel to a previous episode of the show,
- One of the mock advertisements after the main comic says "RIPLEY 2000 Electronic-Games-VIDEOS, WHERE THE CUSTOMER ALWAYS COMES FIRST, NO REFUNDS," referencing the episode "The Refund."
- Another mock ad refers to a game featuring the hot dog character as Hyper Fight! World Edition, although the game the hot dog character was originally from was called Kebab Fighter.
- An early synopsis for the comic, released alongside many others before the comic's release, details an entirely different plot than what was eventually used, in which Anais would have attempted to have a quiet weekend without Gumball and Darwin annoying her. It is unknown why this plot was scrapped.[2]
Goofs/errors[]
Continuity[]
- Darwin and Anais play Beat Fighter, which was first seen in Issue 2.
Cultural references[]
- The Beat Fighter character Anais chooses is Girl-Li, referencing Chun-Li from Street Fighter.
Goofs/errors[]
- Anais refers to herself as an eight-year-old, even though she is actually four in the actual series.
- Anais initially has no idea how to play video games, despite being shown playing one with Darwin perfectly well in The Flakers.
