The issue begins with school ending for the day. Students excitedly crowd out. As Gumball and Darwin leave the two discuss and daydream about how little they intend to do when they get home.
Tobias interrupts them, declaring to everyone that he is going to do something cool. As they begin to wonder what exactly, Banana Joe excitedly points out Tobias sitting in his parents' car, seemingly driving it himself. His father, however, is secretly hidden below and pressing the pedals. Gumball and Darwin watch in awe, jealous at how cool Tobias is, and decide they want to do the same.
Back home the two ask Richard if they can drive the car. He say yes, but first puts training wheels onto the car and makes them wear trash cans as helmets for safety. Gumball begins to drive the car down the road, speeding past Anais and Nicole, who is telling the former about how Richard tricked her into marrying him. Nicole cheerfully waves hello to her kids, before realizing in horror what they're doing. Furious, she chases after them. Gumball speeds up, trying to escape his mother, but is forced to screech to a halt as she stands in the way of the car. Terrified, he quickly reverses the car all the way back to the house.
Now grounded, the two sit in their room upset. Anais overhears him them talking about wanting to drive a car and, after being stopped from delving into a dramatic backstory by Gumball, she explains the two of them need to learn to drive and get a driving license to legally drive one. Misunderstanding her the two decide to try and trick someone into giving them one.
At the DMV someone who looks a lot like Gumball and Darwin in a trench coat and moustache receives their license, much to their delight. It is revealed, however, to just be a random person. As they walk away Gumball figures that if they were able to get a license they should be able to easily too. Making their attempt to get a license they are quickly kicked out after the employee realizes they're only 10 and 12.
Outside the DMV Gumball and Darwin sit on the sidewalk, the former upset he will now never be as cool as Tobias. Wondering how Tobias is doing, we see he has crashed his car. Determined not to give up, Gumball decides to take drastic measures. He asks Tina for a favor.
After school the next day everyone watches in awe as Gumball rides on Tina's back, whilst wearing a pair of sunglasses. They all think he is cool, until Tobias turns up in a wheelchair with his leg in a cast, asking people to sign it. As everyone rushes to do so. Gumball, concerned at losing everyone's attention, asks Tina to do a wheelie. She tries to do so, but leans back too far and falls onto her back, crushing Gumball. As everyone watches in horror Gumball gives them a thumbs up to assure them that he's okay.
The next day Gumball is now also in a wheelchair, his entire head and body in a full cast. He sits contentedly as Penny happily signs his cast.
