Synopsis

When Darwin asks his friends which teacher deserves to be on the yearbook cover, they struggle to find a single worthy candidate!

School without Teachers

[The episode begins with Darwin connecting on his laptop as usual]

Darwin: [texting] Hey guys, I have one more place to fill on the yearbook cover.

Carrie: [texting] Cool, who's it going to be?

Darwin: [texting] Well, I was thinking - what is a school without teachers?

Tobias​​​​​​: [texting] Paradise!

Alan​​​​​​: [texting] Anarchy!⚡

Banana Joe: [texting] A disco!

[Banana Joe posts a clip of him flossing from "The Inquisition"]

Carrie: [texting] Seriously, you're gonna put a teacher in it?

Darwin: [texting] Yep, mainly because I can't face another argument about which of you guys it should be.

Masami: [Disappointed, texting] So... what? I'M NOT IN IT?!

[Masami zaps Darwin's message bar out of anger]

Darwin: [texting] Exactly, So I need your help to nominate one teacher.

Alan​​​​​​: [texting] Well obviously it should be our Principal!

Darwin: [texting] I guess. And we already know Principal Brown is photogenic.

Principal Brown

[Scene from "The Lesson" plays, Gumball is looking Principal Brown's photos]

Gumball: Dude, you have to see this. [Chuckles]

[They start looking at photos of Principal Brown, and they both laugh. After a while, Gumball puts the photos down and sees Principal Brown posing in the same manner as he is in the last photo and Ms. Simian in front of them. They quickly put back the photos, and Miss Simian sees them]

Lucy Simian: Ooooh! [The scene ends]

Felix: [texting] But it takes more than being photogenic to make a good Principal. I mean, is he even that clever? [Erroneously types another "he" before "is"]

[Scene from "The Wish" plays, in Miss Simian's classroom, where Gumball and Darwin standing in, Principal Brown walks in]

Nigel Brown: Lucy! I've been thinking, and I'm sorry I... ​[looks around]​ Where's Miss Simian?

Gumball: I'm sorry, Principal Brown. We made a wish on a magic gnome and now Miss Simian's been transformed into a—

Nigel Brown: Don't be ridiculous, that chair's always been there.

Gumball: No, not the chair. She's been transformed into—

Nigel Brown: [gasps] A desk! Oh, my darling Lucy! [hugs the desk] What have they done?!

Darwin: Mmmm, no, not the desk.

Nigel Brown: [runs to the window] Lucy! You're a window?

Gumball: No...

Nigel Brown: [holding the globe] A globe?

Gumball and Darwin: Mm-mm.

Nigel Brown: [holding a map] Huh?

Darwin: No.

Nigel Brown: [holding a plant] Huh?

Gumball: No.

Nigel Brown: [holding the phone] Huh?

Darwin: No.

Nigel Brown: [holding a pen] Huh?

Gumball: No.

Nigel Brown: [pointing to the fire alarm] Huh?

Darwin: No.

Nigel Brown: [holding up a used tissue] Huh?

Darwin: Eww!

Nigel Brown: [picks up various books]

Gumball: No, no...

Nigel Brown: [Opens the book, points at a tractor image] Huh? 

[The scene stops]

Darwin: [texting] No. Not clever.

Idaho: [texting] But I heard he was pretty resourceful when all the town's technology failed.

Darwin: [texting] Hmm, I guess.

[Scene from "The Intelligence" plays, at the Wattersons' house, the front door is knocked on. Gumball and Darwin answers by open the door]

Gumball: What?

[It reveals to be Principal Brown, dress like a medieval hunter]

Nigel Brown: Good morrow, sweet imp!

Gumball: [angry] Do you have any idea what time it is?!

Nigel Brown: I know not, for my time wheel has stopped at a half-moon hence. [quietly] Also my watch is broken. We can no longer summon sustenance from the telephone, so we are assembling this day a hunting party of equipped and noble fellows. [He moves aside. Harold and Jeff, also dressed like medieval hunters, are on their front porch]

Harold​​: I have my whisk!

Jeff: And I, my kitchen towel!

Nigel Brown: I too have kitchen towel. No beast shall slip through our fingers!

Darwin: Um, no offense, but it doesn't look like you guys know what you're doing.

Nigel Brown: You speaketh the truth, sweet spurs of the waters. We shall almost certainly perish! We lost three good men on the way here.

Harold​​: [whispers to Brown] I got a splinter.

Nigel Brown: And Mr. Wilson got a splinter. But ho! Will you join us this day?

Gumball: Yeah, we'll pass. Looks like you guys are having enough fun combining cosplay and concussion without us.

Nigel Brown: Ha ha ha ha ha! I like you, sweet imp.

Harold​​: I too like you!

Jeff: I too have kitchen towel!

Nigel Brown: We've done that bit. 

[scene ends]

Tobias​​​​​​​​​: [texting] I don't get it.

Darwin: [texting] Yeah, it was a weird day.

Tobias​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​: [texting] No, I mean what's impressive about him talking old-fashioned? He is old!

Billy: [texting] Au contraire! Principal Brown is, how do you put it, "mighty cool and down with the children".

[Scene from "The Fraud" plays, at the school cafeteria, Principal Brown walking in, dress in a hip-hop outfit and bling]

Nigel Brown: Swag! Rap music!

Gumball: What the what?!

Nigel Brown: Piercings! YOLO! Hashtag! MP3! Tweets! Selfies! Skinny jeans! L-O-

[Mr. Small smacks Principal Brown with a tray]

Mister Small​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​: I'm sorry, Principal Brown, but you look like such a jerk that even a granola-crunching pacifist like me had to do something about it.

Nigel Brown: Fair enough.

[scene ends]

Darwin: [texting] Okay, he's not clever and he's not cool.

Mr. Small

Sarah: [texting] Then how about Mr. Small?

Tobias​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​: [texting] He's definitely cool - [Shows Mr. Small's videos on Elmore Stream-It] have you heard the album he put out?

[Darwin clicks on a video. It's Mr. Small's "The Small Hours" album of songs in "The Singing"]

Announcer: Available now for a limited time, Mr. Small's self-funded masterpiece, "The Small Hours," featuring the hit single, "Hit Single."

Mister Small​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​: [Singing] Hit single,

Hit single...

Announcer: Also featuring the haunting ballad "This Boy's Not My Son."

Mister Small​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​: [Singing, autotuned, altered] Can't you see, it's clear to me

This boy is not my son.

Announcer: And the party favorite, "Rock and Roll Orthodontist."

Mister Small​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​: [Singing from far away] Rock and roll orthodontist, rock and roll orthodontist.

Announcer: And the wildly experimental "Mother."

["Mother" appears to be merely Mister Small screaming wildly onto Alison]

Announcer: Hurry! This CD is available for a limited time only while stocks last.

[Darwin stops the video]

Carrie​​​​​​​​​: [texting] Well there's certainly something for everyone.

Alan​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​: [texting] What's "A Little Moment of Calm"? Sounds like my kinda thing.

[Clicks on another video. The video begins with the title, a view of the sky and a sitar strumming. It has been seen in "The Uploads". Mr. Small is shown sitting in a grassy field with a boombox and a CD]

Mister Small​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​: Welcome to "A Little Moment of Calm," with me -- Mr. Small. Oh I really should have called this "Small Moment of Calm." Anyway, un-clench your chakras, and I'll demonstrate using my new CD, now available in gas stations and supermarkets...in the bargain bin.

[Mr. Small plays the CD already in the boombox and begins to meditate]

Mister Small​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​: [Through CD] Open your chest and relax. Breathe in. Breathe out. [Mr. Small does in response in real life] Breathe in. Breathe out. [The CD gets stuck] B-b-breathe out. [Mr. Small continues to do as instructed. The CD repeats this ten times, Mr. Small still doing as instructed. As he does this, his body proceeds to invert inside out. The CD finally begins to play after his body is completely inside out] E-e-enjoy your new body. After all, yoga is a form of rebirth. Namaste. [Mr. Small collapses]

[video ends]

Darwin: [texting] You know that's pretty much how all of his therapy sessions end.

[Scene from "The Silence" plays. A cloud of dust rushes forward, blowing through everything in its path. It's Mr. Small, zooming towards them like a bullet. He dives up and lands right in between them.]

Mister Small​​​​​​​​​​​​​: Did someone say...alternative medicine?

[Cut to a scene from "The Allergy," when Darwin is pinned all over his body]

Darwin: I can't feel pain, or anything from the neck down.

[Darwin sneezes, and the acupuncture pins hit Gumball and Mr. Small. Gumball deflates and Mr. Small groans. The scene immediately cuts to Mr. Small wearing a clown nose in "The Advice"]

Mister Small​​​​​​​​​​​​​: Ho ho!

[Cut to "The Banana ," where Darwin splashes water on Mr. Small and holds a mirror right in front of Banana Joe.]

Mister Small​​​​​​​​​​​​​: Geez, Louise!

[Cuts to "The Ghouls," where Mr. Small appears behind a tree.]

Mister Small: PSYCHIC CRYSTAL CONVENTION?! Where?!

[Cuts back to "The Allergy," Mr. Small puts the crystals onto Darwin's nostrils]

Mister Small: How does that feel?

Darwin: Good! I think—

[Darwin sneezes, launching the crystals. They fly out of the window, and hit Rocky, who is cutting leaves off the tree top, and he falls down. Then cuts to "The Void"]

Mister Small: [Gestures to torso] The six nipple-eyes see the past, the present, and the future.

[Cuts to "The Stories" Upon exposure to the released vapors, Mr. Small raves incoherently and starts convulsing violently. Then cuts to "The Lie" where he rips off the tape, which also pulls off some of his fluff. Then cuts to "The Silence," where Gumball and Darwin are covered in acupuncture needles and surrounded by healing crystals. Smoke is coming off of them.]

Mister Small: How do you feel?

Gumball: Like I got punctured two hundred times and set on fire.

[Their tongues rapidly inflate in the shape of noses. each an inside-out nose.]

[flashback ends]

Carrie: [texting] I'm seeing a theme here. Our teachers can't teach.

Rocky

Darwin: [texting] Then maybe we should choose someone who works at school but isn't a teacher. Rocky!

Felix: [texting] Give me strength, he's but a janitor!

Anton: [texting] But he does get us to school safely everyday.

Masami: [texting] Safely? You sure about that?

[Flashback starts with scenes from "The Bus"]

Rocky: Hey guys! Alrighty.

[Scene cuts to "The Promise" where they drive over a road bump causeing Banana Joe (injured) to ring the bell twice. Then cuts back the "The Bus" where Rocky falls asleep due to crucial plot twists, the bus begins driving wildly. Then cuts the police chase where multiple police cars crash into each other. Then cuts to "The Romantic" where the bus goes so fast down a descending road that it goes up in the air. Penny screams in slow-motion and the bus lands. Cuts back to "The Bus" where Banana Bob gets run over, and getting to the airport where they almost get hit by a plane. Rocky wakes up, then cuts to "The Puppets" where Rocky screams after Darwin plays with the puppets, then back to "The Romantic" where they crash into the school's front doors, and "The Lie" where they crash into Miss Simian's classroom, surprising her. All the students walk out]

Sarah: Good Morning, Miss Simian

[flashback ends]

Miss Simian

Darwin: [texting, in unison] SIMIAN!!!!:)

Idaho: [texting, in unison] Simian.

Masami: [texting, in unison] SIMIAN?!?!?!

Carrie: [texting, in unison] Simian.

Anton: [texting, in unison] Simian!

Felix: [texting, in unison] Simian!! At least she actually cares about teaching.

[Scene from "The Butterfly" plays.]

Lucy Simian: What you are looking at is called a chrysalis.

[scene ends]

Darwin: [texting] And she's a great motivator in physical education. Gumball has never run so fast in his life.

[Scene from "The Apology" plays where Miss Simian chases Gumball down the hall. Darwin is in a locker and opens it for Gumball]

Darwin: Quick, get in here. [Miss Simian crashes into said locker, losing a tooth, which Gumball puts back in her mouth where it came off.]

[scene ends]

Masami: [texting] And underneath all ... that, she's a old romantic.

[Scene from "The Burden plays, Miss Simian barges into the office with weird make-up on]

Lucy Simian: Romance. NOW!

[Miss Simian and Principal Brown start making weird noises and movements with their mouths and faces. This disturbs Gumball and Darwin]

[scene ends]

Darwin: [texting] But we can't put her on the yearbook cover because, you know ... her face.

Idaho: [texting] Good point, she looks like a dirty stocking full of ground pork.

Sarah: [texting] I'd say she's a more like a police sketch of thin snowman made from moss and vinegar.

Masami: [texting] And have you ever seen her try to smile?

[Scene from "The Grades" play. Yawning, Principal Brown enters the teacher's lounge and flips the light switch. He screams, scattering the stack of papers he is carrying, as his fur stands on end. On the other side of the room, Miss Simian is shown displaying an unsettling grin]

Nigel Brown: Lucy, what's wrong with your face?!

Lucy Simian: I'm smiling, isn't it obvious?

Nigel Brown: No, it looks like you're trying to eat your own chin.

Lucy Simian: [Adjusts her mouth] How about this?

Nigel Brown: Uhh...

Lucy Simian: [Tries again, with frightening results] This?

Nigel Brown: [Recoils] Ugh!

[scene freezes]

Darwin: And it isn't just her face.

[Scene from "The Apology" plays.]

Lucy Simian: This diagram reveals everything you need to know— [Turns around]

Class: Augh!

Lucy Simian: [Faces the class] What?

Class: [Collective muttering]

Darwin: [Mumbling] Oh, nothing, nothing, carry on...

Lucy Simian: [Turns around again] Hm. Now we shall continue. This area is—

Class: Augh!

Lucy Simian: [Faces the class again] What?!

[Miss Simian turns back to the board. As she does, Penny uses a book to shield her view]

Lucy Simian: This area is mostly composed of hot gases. Never look at it directly with your naked eye, or you will burn your retinas.

[Tobias turns around with burning eyes]

Lucy Simian: This could lead to rash acts...

[Banana Joe throws his eyes off of his face]

Lucy Simian: Nausea...

[Masami vomits rainbows, William falls down]

Lucy Simian: Weight loss...

[Leslie's petals fall out]

Lucy Simian: Malfunction, confusion...

[Bobert shorts out, Sarah's head melts, and Sussie regurgitates a brown liquid]

Lucy Simian: Or explosion.

[Idaho blows up]

Gumball: [Shouting angrily] Oh, I can't take this anymore!

Darwin: [Hysterical] Every second I look at it, means another year of therapy!

Gumball: [Covering his eyes] Augh, I— I gotta tell her, man!

Darwin: You can't talk to a teacher about her tushy! It's too touchy!

Gumball: Aw, c'mon. You can't leave her like that. It— It's cruel.

Darwin Okay, but we got to be subtle. [Writes something down on paper, and hands it to Gumball. Gumball then folds it into a paper plane]

Gumball: Psst! Miss Simian! [Throws airplane]

Lucy Simian: Huh? [Plane lands in her eye]

[Cuts to Principal Browns office]

Nigel Brown: [Slams his fist on the desk] For the last time, why did you throw a paper plane at your teacher's face?!

Darwin: [Whispers to Principal Brown] It says it all on the paper.

Nigel Brown: [Reading to himself, muffled and confused] "You do not know how much you show, but the wind doth blow in the hills below?" ...Huh?

Lucy Simian: Speaking of which, can anyone else feel that draft?

[Miss Simian walks away to close the window. The screen zooms in on her butt. Principal Brown then spits out his beverage while giving himself a facepalm for an extended period of time. He stops for a brief moment, but then immediately goes back to spitting coffee]

Darwin: [Still whispering to Principal Brown] Maybe you should say something.

Nigel Brown: [Suddenly stops spitting] Yes, I suppose.

[scene ends]

Coach

Tobias: [texting] wait wait wait wait wait. I think we're forgetting the elephant in the room. [laughs] Literally.

Banana Joe: [texting] AAAH WHERE?

Tobias: [texting] Okay, not literally. I mean the Coach!

[Everyone mutters about almost forgetting her. Scene from "The Coach" plays]

Coach Russo: Come on, Watterson. If you can't manage a simple-

[scene freezes]

Darwin: [texting] Nope! If i put her on the cover there'll be no room for anyone else

Mr. Corneille

Sarah: [texting] Well that only leaves Mr Corneille.

Masami: [texting] And what 'special qualities' does he have?

Darwin: [texting] Ummmm ... bravery?

Masami: [texting] I guess it's the best we've got.

[Scene from "The Cage" plays. At the nurse's office, Mr. Corneille walks in. Joan sees Mr. Corneille has a black eye and a chipped tooth]

Joan: [Gasps] Mr. Corneille, your face! What happened?

Moonchild Corneille: Pretty momma, handsome daddy. [Clicks tongue and points his thumbs towards his face]

Joan: No, I meant your black eye.

Moonchild Corneille: Hah, you should see the other guys. [Points backwards as Gumball and Darwin (also with black eyes and chipped teeth) enters the nurse's office]

Gumball and Darwin: Hi, Mr. Corneille.

Moonchild Corneille: [Nervously laughs] I cannot stress strongly enough, these are not the other guys.

Gumball: What happened to your face?

Moonchild Corneille: Oh, I just walked into the cage and got hurt.

Gumball: What? You got into the cage, like, you’re an MMMMA fighter?

[Mr. Corneille tries to explain further but Joan cuts him off by reacting romantically]

Joan: [Romantic voice] Oh, Mr. Corneille, who knew you’d be so- [Squeezes Mr. Corneille's arm, returns to normal voice] oh, that arm feels a lot more withered than I thought it was gonna be.

[scene freezes]

Masami: And how did that play out?

[Cuts to later in "The Cage," Mr. Corneille enters the ring and removes his robe. Joao raises his arm, and smashes Mr. Corneille. Scene ends]

Carrie: [texting] So to summarise, our choices are: [sends a photo of Princaple Brown dressed like a medieval hunter ("The Intelligence")] a furry nitwit...

Sarah: [sends a photo of Mr. Small in a weird outfit ("The Allergy")] [texting] a hapless hippy.

Tobias: [sends a photo of Gumball giving Rocky a brownie ("The Boss")] [texting] an overgrown chicken nugget.

Alan: [sends a photo of Miss Simian having 'Romance' ("The Burden")] [texting] a grotesque butt-monkey...

Billy: [sends a photo of Coach ("The Coach")] [texting] half a ton of ham.

Banana Joe: [sends a photo of Mr. Corneille with a black eye and a chipped tooth ("The Cage")] [texting] and a smushed frog.

Carrie: [texting] You know what, forget the teachers. I know exactly who should be in the last photo. It's staring us all in the face.

Banana Joe: [texting] My Mom?

Carrie: [texting] What? She's not staring you in the face.

Banana Barbara: [texting] Yes I am.

Carrie: [texting] Right, well, no, not her. DARWIN!

Darwin: [texting] What?!

Carrie: [texting] As a reward for all your hard work on the yearbook - it has to be you.

[Everyone all agrees]

[Once he clicked on save, a fatal error occures]

Darwin: What now?!

[Darwin repeatedly clicks on the "ok" button, but nothing happens. He decides to restart Shotophop. Once the app fully loaded, all the images he added to the yearbook cover were completely gone]

Darwin: Nah, whatever. Gumball can do it.

[The door is heard slamming]

Gumball: What the what?!
