Game On
Nicole drops off Gumball, Darwin and Anais at the arcade as she has some errands to run. She hands them all their allowance, telling them to spend it wisely. Reminding the boys to include their sister, she drives away and leaves the three to have fun. They all enter the arcade, and are awestruck at how much it has to offer.
Gumball asks what they should play first. Anais suggests a game all three of them can play. but Darwin suggests a single player one. Gumball, meanwhile, is excited by the prize counter. Anais is unimpressed, saying that the prizes are cheap junk and that they should just focus on having fun. The boys ignore her, however, as they notice a purple wizard jacket. Larry informs them that it's the last one.
The boys agree to work together to earn enough tickets to purchase, only to argue over who should get to wear it. Determined to win the jacket first, the two race off and cash in as many tokens as they can, ignoring Anais' pleas to ignore the jacket and just have fun.
After playing every game they can over and over, the boys finally have enough to afford the jacket. Once they arrive at the counter, however, they find that the jacket has already been bought by Anais. She explains that she easily got enough tickets by spending only two tokens on the super easy Bubble Time Jr game. As the boys lay defeated on the ground, Anais cheerily walks off to have fun with the rest of her allowance.
The Headphones
Gumball and Darwin race to school, eager not to be late, only for Darwin to slip on a dinner tray and fall into a large pile of garbage. After Gumbal fishes him out, the two are confused to find the entire school decrpyt and consumed by piles of garbage. Principal Brown emerges from behind ones of these trash piles and explains that he found Rocky sitting lifelessly in the school, no longer taking care of the school, and no one knows why. After a little persuasion the two agree to help get Rocky working again
The two head to class, where they brainstorm ideas for why Rocky might have stopped doing his job. After thinking about what he normally does, Gumball notices Bobert wearing a pair of headphones and listening to music through a casette tape. Something Rocky would usually be listening to. Stealing them from him, Gumball tries them on is and mindblown by what he hears. He has Darwin try them on, and the latter is similarly awestruck by what he hears.
The two eagerly get Carmen, Penny, Masami and Juke to try listening as well, to varying results. After Principal Brown tries them on, the two finally run over to Rocky to return his headphones to him. As soon as the music starts playing again, he springs back to life. As Rocky finally returns to his work, Gumball asks what the tape in the casette they've been listening to is, as everyone heard different things. He reveals it to be the only copy of the solo album he made when he was fifteenq. Gumball and Darwin are unimpressed, but Rocky explains that the tape is special to him, and is the thing that keeps him going.
The Launch
Late at night Nicole drops off Gumball and Darwin at the store for the midnight release of the brand new Gamepal 8x8 console. She warns the two to not cause any trouble, before driving away. The two are incredibly excited to get their consoles, until they overhear an anglerfish scalper behind them intending to purchase all eight remaining consoles in order to resell them online.
Gumball tries to guilt trip the anglerfish into giving him a console by telling a fake story about his Mom being sick. The fish saw her drop him and Darwin off however, and thus refuses to do so. Noticing some people playing a fighting game behind him, Gumball challenges the anglerfish to a duel, with a bet that if he loses he must give up one of his gamepals. He agrees, and the two fight, only for Gumball to be defeated. After multiple rematches in various other challenges Gumball is still unable to defeat him. Darwin suddenly calls out, stepping up and challenging the angerlish himself to a roller dance off. Darwin starts to dance, only to trip on the curb and fling his boombox straight into the anglerfish's face.
The anglerfish, furious, attempts to attack Darwin, only to be tased at the last moment by Donut Cop. As the anglerfish is arrested Nicole arrives, furious, to take the boys home. They beg her to let them wait for their console, but she refuses as she warned them to not cause any trouble. As they are about to leave, however, the game store employee quietly calls them over. She thanks them for getting rid of the angerlish, and hands them a gamepal she managed to set aside for them. They are overjoyed, so much so that they forget to pay for the console until the employee prompts them to do so.
