Hope y'all like my doodles of the emo:)
Gumball also barely ever ignores penny, it's often that he's too obsessed with her. The only ep where he ignored her is "the ex", and he apologized afterwards. Also, their kids, 12 year olds, no one said young love was perfect. And even then, gumball still has done a lot right by her, he supported her and got her out if her shell which made her a lot happier, supported her through her family arguments.
For every bad, there's plenty of good. And by season 7, I can say gumball has definitely grown and developed from then. P.s. Penny isn't completely innocent either, she drags him into her stressfull family drama a lot, and is a bit over aggressive a lot of the time. Luckily a lot of these issues in their relationship were fixed in season 7.
Literally every gumball and penny interaction in season 7 discredits your point. He's very attentive that season and has more respect for her. While he did struggle with boundaries in earlier seasons, I think it's clear he's learned from that.
^Thank you!
-_- So basically every Ai character in fiction? Also, she is NOT like Grok Ai at all, that thing calls itself mechahitler, you don't see Ori becoming a white supremacist.
Hope y'all like my doodles of the emo:)
@DrivenClover73 Umm dude, that's... literally what I just said. I think Darwin's more erratic moments are simply cus he's connected to gumball. He is his brother afterall, but like I said in my previous comment, Darwin is still a very kind hearted, and selfless person.
He's... Everywhere:)
Yeah, from what we see gumball do in later seasons, he'd whoop Tobias's a**
Penny finna whoop Tobias's a*^. Great comic!
Also, nothing's wrong with Carwin, it's my fav ship. It's just that a certain ep "The letter" sort of butchered Carrie's character. Hopefully it'll be fixed in future.
P.s. Gumball saying he doesn't want to be cheesy, doesn't mean he'll stick to that. He was already a complete simp for penny is seasons 1 to 3. Just cus a character says something, doesn't mean their attitude will never change, or that they were being completely honest. Also, I see this slightly cheesy attitude to her, a good development. Season 6 treated their relationship with too much cynicism, it's refreshing to seeing them actually just love each other.
Also, saying you can do it better than Ben bouqulet, is pretty arrogant ngl. Gumball is loved for it's meta humor, dark humor and lovely cast of characters. That has continued throughout the show and into season 7 fairly consistently. So stop acting like we only care about ships. P.s. use paragraphs dude, that sh** is hard to read.
I heavily disagree with your "flanderization" claims, Richard was never a "manly" figure to begin with. Cheerleading in the new season isn't out of character at all. Have you seen ep's like the "lady" he literally cosplays as a woman just so he can be friends with a group of old ladies cus he could never make male friends as he was looked down on by everyone around him. Not to mention, he crossdresses throughout the series constantly. So him wanting to be a cheerleader in his youth doesn't surprise me. Characters arguably got better as the seasons went on with a few minor hiccups along the way.
Your opinion on darwin and carrie is your own. I heavily disagree personally, their relationship dynamic is pretty cute plus they have a very healthy relationship with Darwin compensating for Carrie's ghostly limits such as letting her briefly possess him to eat food, and her using her powers to win him a plush she knows he'd like, cus darwin's a softy.
Also, what's so hard to understand? Ghosts age very slowly in Tawog, that's why Carrie is still in middle school, and why she's physically, and mentally still a kid. She's most likely twelve in ghost years. Also, darwin won't ever age, since Tawog is canonically a tv show and the characters literally can't age.
Also, are you seriously complaining that they critiqued the rich in "The burger", the show has done that MANY times in the series. And while the burger is a bit politically blunt, a lot of tawog episodes were. Think episodes like "the candidate" which critiqued the 2016 US presidential election and broader political commentary, particularly the outsider candidate phenomenon and climate change denial.
I think you feel the way you do, either because:
1. You outgrew the show.
2. You haven't watched it in a very long time and don't understand it as much as you claim.
The appeal of Tawog is it's meta humor and fun cast of characters. That is the main appeal, however I would say that Tawog characters HAVE had growth/development. Just not rapid change as it's still a sitcom that has to keep the character dynamics more or less the same.
For e.g. Gumball in season 1 was dumber than a sack of hammers, however in later seasons he's far smarter and becomes a bit more mature as the series progresses with a few hiccups along the way. To the point where I think, despite him being a lil' gremlin, he can def be mature and grow as a person. "The Shell" ep is proof of that.
Darwin goes from his overly gullible season 1 self that rarely questions gumball into actively challenging gumball's shenanigans in later seasons, serving as a bit of a moral compass for gumball. Even then, he's not a complete goody twoshoes, as he also acts chaotically. Some people say this is "out of character", however I disagree, he has Gumball for a brother, of course certain traits of darwin's personality are picked up from gumball and vice versa. But overall he's still a very good person who's quite selfless.
Carrie Krueger is probably one of the greatest examples of character development on the show. She goes from a violent, aggressive, food addicted ghost into a very compassionate, selfless and emotionally mature girl. Who while struggling with her emotions at times, learns to express them better. She's loyal to her friends but isn't afraid to call out Gumball's BS from time to time (despite him arguably being her best friend). She of course still has a mischievous side but all of these reasons is why she's easily one of the best characters on the show (and my fav).
But yeah, that's my thoughts. Tawog is predominately a funny, meta sitcom with clever social commentary. But still has subtle character growth, it's just a bit small since it's a sitcomm which don't predominately focus on character development. But to say that the characters undergo no development is just wrong.
@Admiral Yuvan Yeah, the Butts was pretty weird towards the end. The distance was pretty funny though ngl.
P.s. pretty sure the only reason she didn't attack Penny and gumball was because none of that affection was directed at her. Yet, when gumball directs the smallest, most minor showing of affection at her, she goes ballistic.
Also, I'm not sure she almost killed darwin because of her state of mind at the time. When Gumball said the phrase "I love you", purely as an example, she just beat him up aggressively. Which makes it seem she just hates the phrase as a whole, and that phrase is simple mind you, it's not over affection. Considering her past actions towards gumball in this ep, she'd probably attack darwin if he ever read her his love letter. Which makes it seem that she doesn't like people expressing their emotions in general, which isn't like her at all. What I truly hate about the episode is making Carrie look like some rage filled jerk when we've had many episodes proving otherwise.
@Polastournecis I agree, I just don't see her over aggressive nature as a good development. It just makes her look a bit toxic, they did the same to penny in season 6, it wasn't a good look. I liked Carrie better as a calm person that while angst filled at times, wasn't overly aggressive. So seeing her act like this is more of a regression of her character back to her debut season 1 episode if anything. It also just kinda ruins her and gumballs friendship. The episode for me feels a bit contrived, they randomly introduce a plot point that feels a bit nonsensical if anything, considering her past interactions with Darwin.
Good job!
That's def a reference.
