As I grow up, I'm starting to find things in this show not very likeable, specially the newest seasons, I find them too... flanderized. The characters are just flanderizations of what they were, the show itself is too. It focuses too much on the wacky side, when it never even was that much, if you don't consider the 2d and 3d clashing style. There are many things I'm starting to not enjoy anymore, sure, there are good newer season episodes, but it's not many, the artstyle is too... bland now, as in episode 2, of s7, where the AI car is just a png lazily plastered over a prerendered background. I also don't like how relationships go in this show, too much fanservice, like Darwin and Carrie being together, (I hate it). Darwin being a dumb, innocent 10 yr old, and Carrie being a 300 or smth yr old that lives in the body of a 12 yr old and will never physically grow up is just weird, like, it's just stupid that Darwin has a girlfriend in that age, that's one of the ages where no kid is interested in romance, and shouldn't be. As I said, that's just lazy ahh fanservice (reminded me of the scene where Darwin and Carrie are called the "perfect couple"............ NO THEY'RE NOT), and don't get me started on the incest jokes with Gumball and Darwin... they're absofrickinglutely toxic.
I llike Penny and Gumball being together, specially in the earlier seasons, but guess what happened??? Flanderization!! Gumball never wanted to be cheesy in the relation (specially in pre-Season 3 episodes), but now he is! That's just great, right, Gumball fans?
Now, talking about the plots, characters and jokes. I feel like the new season/show's (whatever) episodes are too forced, trying to appeal to Gen-Z and Alpha's dumb outdated slangs (I am a Gen Z just so you know.), and the plots are too... weird! Flanderization, once more! I hate the way Richard behaves in this new season, he never was too much of a manly figure, but now he completely isn't, like, he wanted to be a cheerleader? What sense does this make? None! It may be a reference to the episode where Gumball becomes a cheerleader to save penny from not entering the team, but that was for their friendship, Gumball wouldn't do that if it wasn't for Penny, but many of you forget about this detail. You can say what you want, but most boys are still not interested in things related to girls (I'm a boy), that's just how it is, don't interpret this wrong, I don't mind it, if you like opposite gender stuff, you are you, and be you and be what feels right to you, never be you because they tell you to, be happy, but don't be annoying to others for your happiness too, being yourself can destroy your life if you don't manage it with care, but if you can, then you'll have a good, happy life. Now, moving on to the political criticism of the show: just don't, the burger episode made me cringe so hard because of the "pOoR gOoD, rIcH bAd" stuff. Specially the joke at the end that references "eat the rich"... ??????? What's that even supposed to mean????? I think they made too much criticism to the right, but none to the left, stuff they used to do too. I think the show actually shouldn't have these kinds of jokes because it's too personal of a topic. Now, to the Butts episode. FIRE WHOEVER HAD THIS IDEA, I DON'T CARE ABOUT THE PRINCIPALS STUPID BUTT, NEITHER DO I WANT TO WATCH A STUPID SONG ABOUT IT. Then there's The Amadain. Hate it too. Penny's family taking off their shells is so stupid, it just makes all the stablished cannon... make no fricking sense! They weren't supposed to take their shells off, and never should, that's just how they are! Family tradition that used to be, but now isn't?? What the heck. Then, when they get out of their shells, they don't even look good, they look like some stupid random monster creatures, except for like, the grandma, but she looks awfully cringe too. Talking about retcons, this episode SHOULD be retconned, it changes too much of what has been stablished (like "The principal and the pauper", in the Simpsons), same with The Pool, which made Mr. Robinson like Rocky?!?!?!?!?!? Wasn't he like, the "failure" son? Ah, screw it, now nothing is cannon, yes!!! Moving on to The Climb... why, just why??? Another butt episode?? For what?? Why did Gumball just hang there??? He could have gotten down by himself. As always, it just doesn't make sense!!
The new season has some good episodes, like The Portrait, The Gut, The Gourmet, The Entrance, The Thing, The Traffic and The Wrinkle, but that's like, less than half of the season. I don't get how you guys like it, and I hope you get why I don't like it. I guess after all, Ben Bocquelet isn't that good of a series creator anyway, I would probably take care better care of the show than him, with what he's letting go through, I think I like the old writers more than him as the writer. As I said, I always loved this show, but the more that I grow, the more I start notice certain things, but the fanbase makes me feel like I'm the only one, you guys just care about the ships and fanservice, but I think that's not the kind of show you should remember fondly at when you're an adult, I think you should be fond of the memories of where you watched it, why, with whom, and specially how magical it felt to you. Sometimes it feels better to be blinded by nostalgia than know the real truth.
