I don't know what the creators were thinking, but they really screwed up and it's annoying me. They literally character assassinated Carrie, making her into some kind of overly aggressive demon that isn't like her at all.
The episodes premise is SO. SO. SO. STUPID. Why would carrie hate the words "I love you", and say the undead hate those words. And that she likes darwin cus he's not a "pile of mush" it makes NO SENSE. Darwin is literally the most love sick pile of mush on the planet, he literally turned full emo.
The episode acts like Carrie hates affection and that Darwin has never properly confessed his love. THEY LITERALLY ACT LIKE A LOVEY DOVEY COUPLE IN "the Drama". They've had multiple moments of affection throughout the show. And how is Carrie "dead inside" when she made a love potion to get Darwin and Teri together purely out of her own care for Darwin, it makes no sense.
The episode treats their boyfriend/girlfriend relationship like a casual pair of schoolfriends and isn't really their dynamic. I also HATE how she beat the ever loving life out of gumball for the most mundane of reasons. She's a laidback, chill person, she disagrees with gumball at times, but she would never beat him up this badly.
This episode just... deeply frustrated me. The idea of the undead being loveless doesn't even make sense, there was literally a ghost couple flirting and being lovey dovey in the episode: "Halloween". In short, if you like Carrie and Darwin's relationship, DON'T watch this episode, it ruins Carries character, has a brain numbing premise. And the kicker is, we don't even get to see the letter Darwin wrote anyway.
Sorry I sound so angry, this just REALLY annoyed me.
