You must've stumbled upon the original version of The News. Originally they were humans, but the crew changed the characters into puppets because they (except Ben Bocquelet and Richard Overall) didn't like the other ones. Nowadays for some reason Hulu and by extension Disney Plus play the original on demand instead of the proper final version. Not really sure why they do, but yeah
