Gumball&Darwin are walking around at night for some reason. It's raining and thundering outside. Gumball's umbrella is blown away by the raging winds and he runs to catch it, only to be struck by a powerful lightning bolt...

After being struck by lightning, Gumball's entire being is completely transformed - he becomes a genius on par with Anais, but loses his original personality in the process.
He gradually grows distant from those around him, and ultimately runs away from home due to the mounting conflicts.
